Welcome to the White Hackle

Welcome to a new training year, a new website, and a new blog!

When we were developing the content for this website, we knew we wanted to have a blog, but what purpose would our blog serve? In the past, we had a blog, but it didn’t really get much traction, so we couldn’t get contributors to… well… contribute.

So our mission this round is to make stories for 21 Army, by 21 Army. In the next few weeks, we’ve got some posts ready to go – military-related experiences that we’ve had over the summer and wanted to share. Some history of our corps. Who’s who in the 21 zoo. You’ll see contributions by cadets, officers and friends of 21.

If you’ve got an idea about something you want to write, but don’t feel confident, we can help you. We want to help you tell your stories so that others can learn what it’s like to do what you’ve done. If you’ve just completed General Training camp, and you want to talk about it, let us know. If you were older when you joined cadets and you were fast-tracked, what was that like? Sometimes, we might collect up a few of you in a group and ask you a few questions (what was it like to serve at a Legion dinner? What’s flag party about? How do I pick which instrument I want to play in the band?). Maybe we have a semi-regular “Ask Us Anything” segment where we collect up questions that you want to know about the Commanding Officer, or the Pipe Major, or anyone else in the 21 family. Maybe there will be funfacts (how did CWO Howitzer Hippoe become our mascot? How does helping with the poppy drive help us?)

This is a space for us to share information about events like Remembrance Day activities and Tagging and Merit Review Board and FTX weekends, but it’s also a place for us to get to know each other and talk about how we represent 21 out in the world.

So what do you have to say, 21? And what do you want to know?
